While we do use various other social platforms to announce updates, Discord remains the central channel through which Gala engages with the community. In Discord, users can actively engage in discussions with Gala Staff. This includes not only Gala staff members but also highly engaged Gala executives who maintain an active presence within our servers.

Our users have the opportunity to interact directly with these executives, initiating conversations and seeking insights. This distinct interaction platform distinguishes Discord as a dynamic hub that connects our community and leadership, fostering direct communication and cooperation.

Joining Our Discord Community

To become a part of our vibrant community on Discord, follow these simple guide:

Navigating A Discord Server

To help you navigate through our Discord servers, here's a quick overview:

• Server List (Red Rectangle): This sidebar displays the list of Discord servers you're a member of.

• Channels (Yellow Rectangle): The sidebar here lists the text and voice channels of the Discord server you're currently viewing. Different topics and discussions are organized in separate channels.

• Chat Area (Blue Rectangle): The center area is where you can engage in text conversations. Scroll through the chat to keep up with ongoing discussions.

Managing Channel Overload

It is easy to get overwhelmed by the number of channels there are in one server. Here's how you can manage and prioritize your channels:

• Favorites: You can set your favorite channels for quick access. 

1) Scroll through the channel list and find the channel you want to follow.

2) For example, if you want to follow the Town Star announcements channel, right-click on the #townstar-announcements channel and select Favorite.

3) Once done, you can scroll to the top of the channel list; now, you will find a new category called FAVORITES, and you will find the channel you just favorited.

• Global Announcements: Keep an eye on the #global-announcements channel for important ecosystem-wide updates. If you're interested in specific projects, consider following the respective project announcements channel. You also have the option to explore the #role-selection channel found at the upper part of the channel list and choose your game roles. This will unlock additional game channels and keep you up-to-date with announcements, leaks, and playtests.

• Support Channels: We understand that you might have questions or need assistance. We have dedicated support channels where you can ask questions, seek help, and receive support from both the community and Gala staff. Look for channels labeled #request-a-moderator to connect with Gala staff who can assist you. You can even make these support channels a favorite for easy access in the future.

As a highly engaging platform, Discord offers fantastic opportunities for interaction, but it's important to stay vigilant. Unfortunately, scammers can sometimes try to take advantage of the platform. To ensure your safety, here are some important guidelines to remember:

Be Wary of Scammers: Just like any online community, there might be individuals with malicious intent. If someone contacts you out of the blue, claiming to be from Gala staff or Gala moderators, exercise caution. Scammers may try to impersonate official team members to gain access to your information.

Verify: One important rule to always remember is that no member of the Gala team or Gala moderators will send a message to you first. Instead, they'll wait for you to initiate contact. This measure is in place to ensure your safety. If you need to get in touch with us, it's best to access our profiles within the Discord server itself. By doing so, you can verify our roles and be certain that you're communicating with legitimate staff or moderators.

Verification Process: When in doubt, don't hesitate to verify the authenticity of someone claiming to be from Gala. Reach out to a trusted community member or contact a Gala team member you've previously interacted with. Another effective way of verification is to post your questions in the support channels. Our community is always willing to help, and by seeking assistance publicly, you can ensure that others can also verify the authenticity of the communication.
