Linux Gala Node Software Commands

Summary

Before these steps, be sure to run the latest version of the Gala Node software. Users can also refer to Install the Gala Node Software on Ubuntu Linux for how to update or install the Gala Node software.

1) Gala Node Software keeps going offline constantly

Underpowered Computer

This issue can be caused by an underpowered computer running the software. Please see Gala Node Software Requirements to make sure the machine meets the required specifications.

Outdated Gala Node Software

Outdated Gala Node software is one of the common issues why a node consistently goes offline. It is important to keep the software up to date as it often includes software bug fixes and new features.

For instructions on how to update, please visit Updating the Gala Node Software on Ubuntu Linux article.

2) Gala Node Software is not running

Docker is not running

Docker needs to run for the Gala Node software to work. You can check its status by entering the following command:

 sudo systemctl status docker

If it is not running, enter this command to start it:

 sudo systemctl start docker

3) Wrong API Key

FATA[0000] 401 Unauthorized error

If the Gala Node software presents a Fatal Error message, it means that the set API key is incorrect. When this happens, a user will need to use their existing API key or generate a new API key and update it in their node software using:

gala-node config api-key
