Purpose

This article explains what the requirements are for running the Gala Node software.

The Gala Node software requires specific hardware resources to run the software properly. Knowing the hardware requirements needed to run the Gala Node software is important to ensure it can provide resources to the Gala Games and Entertainment ecosystem and ensure the node operator can get credit in the Distribution.

Assumptions Made

Gala Node Software Version vs Workload Version

Procedure

Gala Node Software

The Gala Node software runs workloads that make the Gala Games and Entertainment Ecosystem function. The software supports Windows Desktop, Mac, and Linux (64-bit required) that have not hit end-of-life (operating systems that are still getting supported by their developers). These are the current resources required for running the Gala Node Software:

4 GB RAM
2 CPU Cores
60 GB Disk Space
An x86/X64 Processor
A Stable Internet Connection

A Valid Node Pairing (Please see Node Pairing to learn more)

The Gala Node Software supports ARM Processors like the Apple M1 chip.

These requirements are subject to change.

Gala Node Workloads with Specific Requirements

Last Expedition Workload

To properly run a Last Expedition (LE) workload and host a game server, it requires the following minimum specifications:

8 GB RAM
4 CPU Cores
60 GB Disk Space
An x86/X64 Processor
A Stable Internet Connection

Note: The LE workload is currently incompatible with an ARM processor and macOS.

Theater Nodes

Configure Port Forwarding as the Theater Nodes require the following ports to be open to operate as a decentralized Content Delivery Network:

  • TCP Port 4002
  • TCP Port 9096
  • TCP Port 5443
