Summary
A user can check if Virtualization is enabled by going to Task Manager and selecting the Performance tab to view the CPU.
In this example, Virtualization is enabled.
If this is disabled, open the windows menu and type System Information into the search.
In the System Information windows, users can identify both their CPU and Motherboard. A CPU will be in the Processor section and the motherboard will be in the Baseboard Product section.
Users can then search for their CPU if it supports virtualization.
If the CPU and Motherboard support virtualization, please refer to the Motherboard or computer manufacturer on how to enable CPU virtualization.
Users can access the BIOS by doing the following:
- Select the Start Menu, type Settings, then press Windows Settings.
- While in Windows Settings, click the Windows Update menu and choose Advanced options.
- Press Recovery, and select Restart Now on the right side of Advanced Startup.
- In Advanced Startup, select Troubleshoot and click Advanced Options.
- Click UEFI Firmware Settings and choose Restart Now.
In most cases, users can find information on enabling virtualization in the BIOS using a Motherboard's manual.
Users must also ensure that the Virtual Machine Platform is on in Windows Features. Open the Windows Search Bar and search for Turn Windows features on or off.
Make sure the Virtual Machine Platform is checked and click OK.
