Coinbase wallet is a self-custodial web3 wallet that allows users to retain complete control over their credentials without having a third party manage them. Coinbase wallet differs from Coinbase itself since, on Coinbase, the exchange controls the private key, while with Coinbase wallet, the user controls their private key. This distinction is why many people prefer to use Coinbase wallet as an alternative to Coinbase directly. Users can install the Coinbase wallet by following the guide below:

1) Navigate to coinbase.com/wallet and click Download Coinbase Wallet.

2) This tutorial uses the Google Chrome web browser. Users can click Add to Chrome to download the extension.

3) Click Add Extension.

4) Once the extension is installed, it's recommended to pin it in the web browser, so it is easily accessible. Users can click the puzzle piece icon next to the address bar to reveal the currently installed extensions. Locate the Coinbase Wallet extension and click pin.
