Summary
The pilot program is a mechanic that allows users to borrow NFTs from other players. With this system, there are two different users:
Pilots - Pilots are the players that borrow and pilot a tank. When a player decides to become a Pilot, they will be able to borrow a Hero Tank or a set of parts such as a weapon and body set. Being a Pilot will allow a user to use a captain's tank in-game without owning the NFT.
To take part in the Pilot Program as a Pilot, please check the article Spider Tanks - Borrow NFTs through the Pilot Program for more information.
Captains - Captains are the players that allow their tank to be borrowed by others and receive a portion of their reward for doing so. These rewards are in the form of Victory Points from the matches won with their Tank.
When a Captain participates in the Pilot Program, they can only submit one Tank per Drop Pod every 24 hours. The Tank will be locked into the program for that period and will be returned to the lender after that period. Captains must resubmit that Tank - or any other - if they want to participate in the Pilot Program again.
For aspiring Captains, please check this article: Spider Tanks - Direct Rental in Dropship.
A portion of the Victory Points for each match is taken as a ‘processing fee’ and burned - the remainder is split between the Pilot and the Captain.
