This article explains the importance of backing up a wallet's Transfer Code and Recovery Phrase. This article also details how recovery differs between legacy Gala Games and Entertainment wallets and Web 3 Wallet (W3W) users.
This article assumes the reader understands the information in the following articles:
1) If a person forgets only their Transfer Code, it can be changed using an account’s Recovery Phrase.
2) If only the Recovery Phrase is forgotten, assets may be transferred out, but there is nothing that can be done to recover a wallet’s recovery phrase.
For legacy Gala Games and Entertainment wallets, users can still utilize their Transfer Code to transfer their assets out to a new account’s wallet.
For W3W users, they can still use their Transfer Code to move their GalaChain assets to a new wallet.
3) If a user loses both their Transfer Code and Recovery Phrase, it is unfortunately not possible to recover them.
This means that for legacy Gala Wallet users, there will be no way for them to interact with their account's wallet. For W3W users, they will be unable to access their assets on the Gala network.
Unfortunately, there is nothing anyone can do if a person loses access to both their Transfer Code and Recovery Phrase. Both the phrase and code are set up at the beginning of the account making process. It is shown multiple times that this cannot be recovered by anyone, including the Gala Games and Entertainment team.
In order to prevent these issues, it is important that users take the necessary steps to securely store and backup their account's Transfer Code, Recovery Phrase, and password.
4) For users who need to reset their Gala Games and Entertainment account password, the process can be initiated by utilizing the "Forgot My Password" option on a Gala Games and Entertainment website. This will send the user a recovery email to the account's registered email address. Once the email is received, users can follow the provided link to reset and change their password.
